Money Therapy: Feel Safe With Money From the Inside Out

What is Money Therapy?

Money Therapy is a non-clinical, therapy-informed coaching practice for high-achieving women who earn well, achieve consistently, yet still do not feel safe with money. It draws on the principles of psychology, NLP, and somatic awareness — without crossing into psychological treatment — to help you identify and rewrite the inherited patterns, childhood money stories, and unconscious beliefs that quietly govern every financial decision you make. Rather than handing you a budget template or an investment plan, Money Therapy works from the inside out: dissolving the fear, shame, and scarcity that live beneath the numbers so that calm, confident decisions become your natural default. This is not regulated financial advice (investments, tax, pensions, insurance), and it is not psychotherapy. It is a structured, deeply personal coaching experience that restores your felt sense of safety around money — permanently, not just temporarily. Sessions are available in person in Zurich and online with clients worldwide.

Money Therapy vs Money Coaching — What Is the Difference?

Both pathways are offered by Ilana Jankowitz and both sit firmly within non-clinical coaching. The distinction is one of depth and entry point.

Money Therapy

Money Therapy is the root-level work. It is for women whose relationship with money is actively coloured by anxiety, freeze, chronic under-earning despite high ability, compulsive spending, or a persistent feeling that safety is always just out of reach. Using the Inside-Out Money Therapy Method, Ilana guides you through the five pillars — Feeling Safe, Worthiness, Receiving, Autonomy, and Alignment — to locate where inherited patterns took hold and to rewrite them at the source. The transformation is experiential and embodied, not purely cognitive.

Money Coaching

Money Coaching is the forward-facing, action-oriented partner to Money Therapy. It is suited to women who have done some inner work and are ready to translate new beliefs into concrete money behaviours: setting prices confidently, building consistent saving habits, negotiating salary increases, or designing a personal money system that actually holds. Money Coaching sessions are structured around goals, accountability, and practical strategy — still mindset-led, but focused on execution rather than excavation.

Many clients move fluidly between both. If you are unsure which is the right entry point for you, the free Breakthrough Call is the place to find out.

Money Therapy vs Psychotherapy vs Financial Advice

Understanding what each modality does — and does not — do helps you choose the right support at the right time.

The Inside-Out Money Therapy Method

Ilana’s proprietary framework — the Inside-Out Money Therapy Method — rests on five interconnected pillars. Each pillar addresses a distinct layer of the relationship between a woman and her money. Together they create the conditions for lasting, embodied change rather than surface-level motivation.

Pillar 1 — Feeling Safe

Before any meaningful money work can happen, your nervous system needs to believe that safety is possible. Most high-achieving women have unconsciously equated money with danger — not because they are irrational, but because their earliest experiences with money were genuinely unsafe: scarcity, conflict, secrecy, loss. The first pillar establishes a felt sense of safety in the body and in the coaching space itself. Using NLP techniques and somatic awareness, Ilana helps you to regulate your nervous system’s response to money so that you can think clearly, act deliberately, and stop making decisions from a place of survival rather than choice.

Pillar 2 — Worthiness

Worthiness is the invisible ceiling. Many high-achieving women have built impressive careers and incomes, yet an deep-seated inherited belief — “I am not really worth this” — quietly engineers self-sabotage: undercharging, over-delivering without compensation, giving money away before it can accumulate, or feeling paralysed every time it is time to raise a price or negotiate a raise. In this pillar, Ilana traces the roots of your worthiness story — where it came from, whose voice it carries, and how it has been silently running the show — and then rebuilds a genuine, embodied sense of your own value that no external achievement is required to validate.

Pillar 3 — Receiving

Receiving is a skill that many women were never taught and were sometimes actively discouraged from practising. Culturally and within families, women often internalise the message that needing, wanting, or taking up financial space is selfish, greedy, or unfeminine. This pillar dismantles those inherited patterns around receiving — whether that means receiving a compliment, accepting a pay rise, allowing money to stay in your account, or simply saying yes when an opportunity arrives. When receiving becomes safe, the entire flow of money into your life shifts — not through magical thinking, but through the removal of the unconscious resistance that was blocking it.

Pillar 4 — Autonomy

Financial autonomy is not just about having your own bank account. It is about your right — felt, owned, and exercised — to make money decisions that are truly yours: decisions not driven by a partner’s anxiety, a parent’s judgment, a cultural script, or an old identity you have outgrown. Many women who come to Ilana are highly capable decision-makers in their professional lives yet feel strangely powerless or conflicted when it comes to their own money. This pillar strengthens your capacity to own your financial choices, to hold your ground in money conversations, and to act from your own values rather than inherited ones.

Pillar 5 — Alignment

Alignment is where inside-out change becomes visible in the outside world. Once the first four pillars are in place — felt safety, worthiness, receiving, and autonomy — Ilana works with you to align your money behaviour with the life, values, and vision that are authentically yours. This is not about following a prescribed path to wealth. It is about making calm, confident decisions that feel coherent with who you actually are: how you earn, how you spend, how you save, how you give, and how you grow. Alignment is the pillar that makes change sustainable, because it is anchored in identity rather than willpower.

Who Is Money Therapy For?

Money Therapy is designed specifically for high-achieving women whose outer financial picture does not match their inner experience of safety. Here are three of the women Ilana works with most often.

The High Earner Who Still Feels Broke Inside

She earns a salary that should feel like more than enough. On paper, nothing is wrong. But every time she checks her bank account there is a familiar contraction in her chest — a low-level but relentless anxiety that the money will disappear, that she will lose it, that it was never really hers to keep. She cannot identify where this feeling comes from, because it predates her income. Her felt-safety challenge: no amount of earning has yet been able to override the inherited belief — absorbed in childhood — that money is precarious and that security is always conditional.

The Over-Giver Who Cannot Keep Money

She is generous to a fault — always the one picking up the bill, lending to friends, donating, supporting family members, or discounting her own services. She tells herself this is just who she is. But underneath the generosity is a pattern: money feels safer in someone else’s hands than her own. Receiving — for herself, on her own behalf — triggers guilt, discomfort, or a compulsion to redistribute immediately. Her felt-safety challenge: an inherited pattern that equates keeping money with being selfish, and giving it away with being loveable and safe.

The Successful Professional Who Secretly Undercharges

She is respected in her field, sought after for her expertise, and consistently delivers results that others charge far more for. Yet every time she sits down to set or raise her prices, something stops her — a voice that says she is not experienced enough yet, that clients will leave, that who does she think she is. She has tried raising her rates, but backs down when challenged, or preemptively discounts before anyone even asks. Her felt-safety challenge: a deep worthiness gap between her professional identity and her sense of what she is truly allowed to claim — financially, visibly, unapologetically.

What Happens in a Money Therapy Session?

Each Money Therapy session with Ilana runs for 60 to 90 minutes. Sessions are available in person in Zurich and online for clients based anywhere in the world. No two sessions follow an identical structure, because no two women carry the same money story — but every session is built around the same core intention: to move you from the pattern that is keeping you stuck to the clarity and felt safety that allows you to act differently.

In a typical session, Ilana might begin by identifying which of the five Inside-Out Money Therapy Method pillars is most present for you that day — where in your body or your behaviour the old story is showing up. From there, the session may draw on any combination of the following:

  • Money archetypes — identifying the unconscious roles and characters (the Innocent, the Victim, the Warrior, the Martyr, the Fool, the Creator, the Tyrant, the Magician, the Lover, the Ruler) that are currently driving your money decisions, and consciously choosing a more empowered archetype to lead instead.
  • NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) — using language and representational patterns to identify and shift the structure of limiting money beliefs, often quickly and without requiring lengthy verbal analysis.
  • The Inside-Out Method — working through the specific pillar (Feeling Safe, Worthiness, Receiving, Autonomy, or Alignment) that is the root of your current block, using a combination of inquiry, somatic awareness, and belief rewriting.
  • Inherited pattern mapping — tracing a current money behaviour back through your family history to find where the pattern originated, who it belonged to first, and why your nervous system adopted it as a survival strategy.

You will never leave a session with a to-do list of financial products to purchase or a prescribed investment strategy. What you will leave with is greater clarity, a lighter relationship with money, and one or more concrete shifts you can act on immediately — in how you think, speak, and make decisions about money.
